Over its 2500 year history, Thai Yoga Massage has evolved into a unique blend of pranayama breathing, meditation, hatha yoga, compassionate touch, energetic medicine and heart-based healing. In this two-day workshop, you will experience the power and beauty of Thai Yoga Massage through demonstrations with thorough explanations and hands-on giving and receiving.
 
You will learn to perform a Traditional Thai Yoga Massage in the Front and Back Positions. By the end of the course, you will be able to give a delightful 90-minute to 2-hour massage the Thai way. Thai Massage on the Table Class with Herbal Compress

Levels I & II - 32 NCBTMB and Florida State CE hours

Four Day Intensive Course:

August 13-16, 2011: TIME: 9:30AM to 5:30PM - The Standard Spa in Miami Beach, Florida

 

Thai Massage is traditionally done on a mat on the floor, but much of the work can easily be adapted to the table. In these hands-on class, you will learn to use Traditional Thai massage techniques to create five complete customized session for your clients incorporating the use of 'Luk pra kob', steamed herbal bundles.

 

Participants will learn to combine the beneficial power of Thai herbal bundles; steamed herbal bundles, called luk pra kob, are traditionally combined with Thai techniques on the Table and add a powerful tool to the therapist’s skills. Each herb in the mix has its own properties, and as a blend the mixture offers anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, digestive, and circulatory benefits, to name a few. The moist heat allows for the greatest absorption of the herbs through the skin to maximize the effects.
The workshop will cover:


• An introduction to the herbs used for this treatment, along with healing benefits and contra-indications
• Selection of herbs and customization of bundles for specific intentions
• Setup and safe use of equipment
• Appropriate body mechanics to be most effective in your treatment while placing the least amount of strain on your own body
• Demonstrations and hands-on practice with Thai Yoga massage techniques
